Home Buyer Education Workshops
Come and learn the home purchase process and get out of renting for good!
Lakeshore Community Action Program, Inc. a non-profit agency that serves Door, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan counties is again offering the “Home Buyer Education” workshop series. The workshop offers practical tools, consumer information and useful handouts for each participant about the home buying process. Christine Loose, Housing Coordinator will be the workshop facilitator. Ms. Loose is a certified Housing Counselor.
Workshops are offered throughout the year in Sturgeon Bay, Manitowoc and Sheboygan. To complete the workshop, you must attend all three sessions or one Saturday. The topics that will be discussed include:
First Night - Household Finances, IDA Program, Prime Lender Financing
Second Night - Offer to purchase, Insurance, Rural Development
Third Night - Home Inspection, Lead Paint, Weatherization, Habitat for Humanity.
Participants who 1) meet the
income guidelines, 2) complete three (3) workshops, 3) show a
willingness to partner with Lakeshore CAP in the home buying process and 4) are
able to obtain permanent mortgage financing may also qualify for money
to help with down payment, closing costs, and rehabilitation in the form of low
or no interest loans.
