A mother shares her journey through renewed hope via Parents as Teachers educational program

“Growing up in a domestic violence shelter and in a low-income household, I always knew that if I wanted a better life for my daughter, I would have to fight for it. I couldn’t wait for someone else to do it for me.

My journey began when my Parent Educator from Lakeshore CAP, came into my life. She showed up at my house, offering me a sense of hope and connection to resources that I didn’t even know existed.

My Parent Educator didn’t just offer me practical resources; she gave me something even more valuable, parenting education. She made sure that my pregnancy was on track, and she provided me with the knowledge I needed to be the best parent that I can be.”
