Jak’s Place Art Group

Jak’s Place Art Group

Jak’s place is excited to announce its first special art group event to take place on Tuesday, October 12th from 1:15-3:15 with a follow-up on Tuesday, October 26th from 1:15-2:15. On the 12th the art group will be making clay monsters using a pinch pot technique. These creations will then be kiln fired after which participants can return on the 26th to paint their creations. We require an RSVP by Friday, October 7th at the latest. The RSVP should include your name and phone number and can be left with Julie, or leave a voicemail. As this is the first event of its type, we will be capping the group at 6 people, therefore the first 6 to confirm will be able to attend. Please see the unpainted bisqueware (kiln fired once, not glazed) example.
Mental Illness Awareness Week

Mental Illness Awareness Week

This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week and October 10th is World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme is: Mental health care for all: let’s make it a reality! The pandemic has created new challenges for maintaining mental wellness and ongoing shortages in the behavioral health workforce make it difficult to meet the ongoing and increased need for mental health care. As we strive to make mental wellness and mental health care a reality for all, we can continue to support our traditional mental health care providers and highlight professionals not often included in workforce projections but who play important roles in the mental well-being of individuals, schools, and communities. We can all play a role in making mental health a reality for all. Information provided by Mental Health Technology Transfer Center Network.
Jak’s Place, located in Sturgeon Bay, is here to provide structured and social resources to those affected by mental illness and to family members in need of support and information.
