UNITED WAY
2020 “MY FREE TAXES” SERVICE
United Way Manitowoc County has launched this tax season’s MyFreeTaxes service. We’re once again providing free online tax filing software to help taxpayers easily and accurately file both their federal and state tax returns from their computer, smartphone or tablet. Filers can save hundreds of dollars in filing fees and get the refund they deserve.
MyFreeTaxes is free for all returns and includes schedule C options. There is no income limit for MyFreeTaxes this year.
A list of the tax forms included in this free offering is available by clicking on: MyFreeTaxes.com
Some folks did not receive their second stimulus payment, and to receive that payment, must file taxes this season even if they do not typically need to. Those filers can use MyFreeTaxes to receive that payment. A question regarding receipt of stimulus payments is one of the very first questions the program asks.

WISCONSIN DHS BIRTH TO 3 PROGRAM — IN ENGLISH, SPANISH AND HMONG
While families across Wisconsin face uncertainties during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, young children with delays or disabilities are still in need of support. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Birth to 3 Program is here to support children and their families through this public health emergency.
See Birth to 3 Program Flyer in:
We are here to support you. The Birth to 3 Program is here to help children grow and learn to their fullest potential. DHS and local county Birth to 3 Programs continue to provide services to children and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local Birth to 3 Programs are working with families to come up with creative ways to stay in touch to continue, or start, services. Even when in-person contact isn’t possible, services are being delivered over the phone and through video and web based applications and platforms.
We are committed to protecting the health and safety of our members and participants during the COVID-19 pandemic. To stay informed about the latest program updates, limitations to in-person contacts, general COVID-19 resources, and more, visit http://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/birthto3/index.htm

THROW WITH ALL YOUR HEART
Help Ascend Create Meaningful Experiences for Individuals With Exceptional Abilities!
We created this fun and exciting event to draw awareness to the needs of our community’s individuals with disabilities.
We have all had a difficult year… but helping to create new and exciting opportunities for others can help us all rebuild – as a community.
That is why Ascend’s “Small Business Sponsors” (UnitedOne Credit Union and Seehafer News) partnered up to put money back into local, small businesses while bringing you exciting prizes.
Host a fundraiser, donate to the cause, support our small businesses . . . and have fun while you do it.
We want to see our entire community come out of this year stronger than ever. And we can only do that together. |

The first part will take place on Monday, February 1 from 1-3pm. The topic will include how local homelessness issues relate to the big picture of homelessness across the state and nation, how to develop a more comprehensive system to address homelessness in our area and how to build our coalition to include local government, school systems, affordable housing developers, public housing authorities, law enforcement, and others for a more complete plan. Part 2 will take place on Monday, February 8th from 1-3pm and will look at local data that can help identify gaps, strengths and begin discussion about next steps needed to strengthen our coordinated efforts.
