- Highlights of Taking Care of You (TCOY) course
The “Highlights of Taking Care of You” sessions explore ways to take better care of yourself and manage stress. The eight 30-minute sessions, typically scheduled once per week for eight weeks, cover the following topics: Stress, Mindfulness, Mental Health, Physical Health, Spiritual Health, Social Health, and Reframing. A great way to provide no cost education for students, staff, board and volunteers.
- Prevent Suicide QPR training
Suicide in the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in 10 to 24 year-olds. In partnership with Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County, Extension is co-facilitating 60-minute QPR trainings. Learning Objectives include:
- Recognize someone who is at risk for suicide
- Intervene with those at risk
- Refer them to an appropriate resource
This training is not intended to be a form of counseling or treatment. The QPR training is intended to offer hope through positive action.

- Adult Mental Health First Aide (AMHFA)
This early intervention public education program teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen non-judgmentally, give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services. This is a six-hour zoom course, with an additional 2.5 hours of pre course work. AMHFA is designed to teach people how to approach, assess and assist a person who may be in the early stages of developing a mental health challenge or in a mental health crisis. Those trained in AMHFA are the first line of support for a person in need.
- The Strong Bodies Strength Training
Scientific research has demonstrated that exercise with weights (strength training) will increase strength, muscle mass, and bone density in middle aged and older women. Strong Bodies is appropriate for both sedentary and active women. The program is generally offered twice per week for twelve weeks. Each session is an hour.
