Magical Trolley Ride to the North Pole Has Been Cancelled for 2020
Hello Everyone! We wanted to give an update regarding our 2020 Magical Trolley Ride to the North Pole event. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are not able to safely hold the event this year. We will miss everyone — but the safety of our communities, especially our children, is paramount to us. We hope to see everyone in December 2021.

New and Exciting at “The Bridge” WIRCO Recovery Community Center
We are pleased to announce the naming of our new Recovery Community Center, now known as The Bridge! There has been much growth since we opened and we continue to expand our programs. Starting in August, we will offer a Mindfulness Meditation group on Tuesdays from 10-11am. On Wednesdays, we will offer Alateen from 3-4pm. The Mindfulness Meditation program is for anyone interested in learning more about mindfulness and how to use meditation in this time of chaos to ground yourself and bring awareness to the present moment. Our Alateen group is designed to help young people affected by another person’s use of alcohol or drugs and will be a great resource for adolescents. We are also working on our first major fundraiser for The Bridge called 24 Hours of Recovery. It features live speakers every hour for 24 hours for September – National Recovery Month. Watch for more news on this fun and exciting event soon!
Meetings Continue
We continue to host meetings at The Bridge (masks are required, and we can supply them if needed) and will continue to support the recovery community. Please check out our website “wirco.org” or our Facebook page “WIRCO Sheboygan” https://www.facebook.com/wircos/ for our calendar and more!
Thank you for your continued support to our mission: WIRCO seeks to establish and sustain a Recovery Community Organization and Center that embraces all pathways to recovery and support all individuals impacted by the disease of addiction through education and coaching, programming, referrals, and advocacy.

LAKESHORE CAP WRAP —WISCONSIN RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Lakeshore CAP recently learned we will be receiving WI Rental Assistance Program (WRAP) funds, resulting from the CARES Act. The purpose of these funds is to help those who were negatively impacted by COVID-19 and are struggling to pay rent or security deposit. The Lakeshore CAP program will provide funding to eligible individuals residing in the Wisconsin counties of Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc and Sheboygan. We are excited and relieved to have these funds available to eligible residents within our service area.
In general, an applicant must be an adult resident of Wisconsin, with a household income at or below 80% of the county median income in the month of the application or the prior month. For those eligible, the program may provide direct financial assistance for rent owed and/or security deposits.
—-> PLEASE NOTE: Lakeshore CAP is now taking applications for WRAP. Find guidelines and the pre-screen application in yellow banner at:
If you are seeking other forms of rental assistance due to inability to pay as a result of COVID-19 or if you simply are unable to pay your rent and are facing eviction, Lakeshore CAP has a limited amount of assistance available. Jul 14, 2020 | Coronavirus News, Lakeshore CAP News
On behalf of the Social Security Administration (SSA), we want to let you know that during the current coronavirus pandemic, SSA continues to provide help to you and others in your community.
While their offices are not providing service to walk-in visitors due to COVID-19, SSA remains committed to providing ongoing benefits and vital services. SSA asked us to let you know that they remain ready and able to help you by phone with most Social Security matters. You can speak with a representative by calling your local Social Security office or their National Number: 800-772-1213. They provide local office phone numbers conveniently online with their Social Security Office Locator: https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/main.jsp.
SSA also wants you to know they have many secure and convenient online services (https://www.ssa.gov/onlineservices) to:
- Apply for benefits
- Check the status of an application or appeal,
- Request a replacement Social Security card (in most areas),
- Print a benefit verification letter, and
- Much more.
Most business with SSA can be done online, but they know that many people still rely on phone or in-person help. That’s why they want you to know you can still count on them by phone. And, if you have a critical situation they cannot help you with by phone or online, they may be able to schedule an appointment for you.
If you need help from SSA, please don’t wait until they can see you in person. Reach out now and get the help you need.
Lastly, SSA also understands that getting medical and other documentation can be difficult due to the pandemic. So, they are continuing to extend certain deadlines wherever possible.
