Estos posters fueron distribuidos por Lakeshore CAP en relación con nuestro programa de apoyo a la vivienda.
Dentro del programa, hay un proceso llamado Coordinated Entry en un esfuerzo para referir a quienes buscan asistencia con la vivienda y referirlos a los servicios disponibles que sean más apropiados.

Lakeshore CAP Joins Door County Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative
Across this country affordable housing is an issue for many. Lakeshore CAP is honored to be part of a group working towards solutions in Door County. Colleen Homb*, Executive Director at Lakeshore CAP, join others on a design team that will work together during a three-phase, six-month process to develop innovative solutions for affordable housing.
From the Door Co Pulse:
“Door County has been selected as one of three pilot communities in the state to take part in the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority’s (WHEDA) new Rural Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative. The initiative attempts to address the state’s shortage of rural affordable workforce housing through the pilot communities, coupled with new financing tools for home buyers and developers in rural areas.”
“WHEDA’s $10 million rural affordable workforce housing initiative, including the community pilot program and supplemental financing tools, are funded by WHEDA operations, and no state tax dollars are involved.”

US Census
The 2020 Census asks a few simple questions about you and everyone who was living with you on April 1, 2020. The 2020 Census is happening now.

Everyone Counts
The Census Bureau has specific operations and processes in place to count everyone, including those in group living situations such as college dorms, nursing homes, military barracks, and prisons.
School lunches. Plans for highways. Support for firefighters and families in need. Census results affect your community every day. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location.
Census results help determine how money is allocated for the Head Start program and for grants that support teachers and special education. The list goes on, including programs to support rural areas, to restore wildlife, to prevent child abuse, to prepare for wildfires, and to provide housing assistance for older adults.
Language Support
You can complete the census online or by phone in 13 different languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Japanese.

EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO VOTE!
The presidential election is set for Nov 3 and all polling locations will be open 7 AM – 8 PM that day. Voters must be registered and present a photo I.D., such as a driver’s license. Registration will also be available at each polling location for people who have been at their current residence for 10 days or longer. To register, people will need to provide proof of residence with a utility bill, bank statement, driver’s license, etc.

Manitowoc County Voter Information
After October 14th, those needing to register to vote can do so in the City Clerk’s office through 5 PM on October 30th or at their polling place on Election Day.
Voters who received their absentee ballot in the mail can mail their voted ballot back — or utilize one of the two drop boxes at City Hall. There is a drop box in the City Clerk’s office available during business hours (M-F 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM) and another available 24 hours on the southwest side of the City Hall.
In-person absentee voting starts Tuesday, October 20th and runs through Sunday, November 1st. Voters with questions on voting or registering to vote should contact the City Clerk’s office at 920-686-6950.

It is critical that people experiencing homeless and housing instability are registered to vote! The WEC has provided a variety of resources to educate voters about elections in Wisconsin. Below you will find an index of resources including information on the photo ID requirements and how voters can get an ID for voting even if they do not have documents like a birth certificate or social security care. This program is administered by the WI Department of Transportation and is referred to as the ID Petition Process (IDPP).

Photo ID Resources
The WEC has created various outreach materials discussing Wisconsin’s photo ID law. Both quick information guides and more individual ID-specific guides are available to use around your community. The WEC has also created and updated the easily distributed palm card, which describes the photo ID law and how voters can get a free ID for voting purposes. The in-depth guides and palm card, including the IDPP palm card, are linked on the outreach page. Absentee Voting and Election Security

To help promote absentee voting, election security information, and the MyVote Wisconsin website, website banners have been created by the WEC. The images can be switched out periodically to show new messages and link to different WEC webpages that discuss election security and November preparations in more depth. To help promote information about Wisconsin’s various election laws and processes, the WEC has created various outreach pages and information to help voters prepare for the upcoming election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 3, 2020.
Voter Registration Deadlines:
- October 14 – To register to vote online (by 11:59 p.m.) or by-mail (postmarked).
- October 30 at 5 p.m. – To register to vote at your clerk’s office or other designated location.
- You can register at your polling place on Election Day (November 3, 2020).

- October 29 at 5 p.m. – To request an absentee ballot by-mail for regular and overseas voters.
