2020 Cardboard City for Homeless

2020 Cardboard City for Homeless

Join us for our first ever Virtual Cardboard City!

November 1st to November 14th

Join us for this year’s Cardboard City event, a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, The Haven, and Hope House. All 3 agencies are working to help the homeless in our community.

Cardboard City is a homeless experience where individuals, families or groups will spend the night in cardboard boxes, simple tents, or in their own car to experience what many homeless families and individuals go through. A simple meal will be served for dinner and there will be activities, entertainment and presentations throughout the evening.
If you are interested in attending this event please contact Stephanie at sb_flcmanitowoc@sbcglobal.net!

See details at: Cardboard City 2020

Missed the deadline to sign up to participate? Fear not! You still can! Participants still have the opportunity to participate and help raise money toward homelessness as Hope House, Habitat for Humanity, and The Haven partner together to help our community.

Prizes will be awarded to the team or individual with the most money raised and the best cardboard shelter.

Even if you can’t participate this year, give us a share so we can keep fighting this fight together and bring awareness. You can share — and sign up — by clicking on this Facebook page:

Homelessness Gaps & Needs Surveys

Homelessness Gaps & Needs Surveys

The Wisconsin Balance of State Continuum of Care (WIBOSCOC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving all the counties in Wisconsin except Dane, Milwaukee, and Racine.  Our membership is comprised of agencies who serve, support and care about those experiencing homelessness.

As a WIBOSCOC member, Lakeshore CAP needs your feedback!  We are looking for 25 surveys from area providers and surveys from at least 25 clients. The deadline is November 15th.

If you have applied for or received services through Lakeshore CAP or another provider, please:

Take the Gaps and Needs Survey here: Client Survey

If you are an agency in our service area (Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Door and Kewaunee counties) that works with the homeless population, please:

Take the Gap and Needs Survey here: Provider Survey

The gaps and needs group’s purpose is to research and identify the gaps in services and the needs of the Balance of State’s serving populations and agencies. This group will be able to compile data and provide supportive evidence for identifying these gaps and needs. This group will also be a vital advocate and voice for the populations and service providers within the Balance of State.

Point In Time Outreach Event!

A coalition of local agencies and volunteers will be conducting the Point In Time Street Count in Manitowoc, Door, Kewaunee, & Sheboygan Counties over the night of Thursday, August 13, 2020. Be Part of the “No Wrong Door” Solution

Lakeshore CoCIn addition, we are requesting assistance from the community to help us identify locations where suspected homeless people may be staying. If your business is aware of people that do not have shelter or you are a concerned citizen who might have spotted someone you suspect is homeless, please contact us. We can offer assistance and referrals for shelter. Again, please let us know prior to the Count If you are aware of locations in the community (parked car, parks, etc.) where people are staying so we can find these vulnerable people and offer them services.

People experiencing or at risk of homelessness may find housing and get connected to community-based resources through Coordinated Entry. In most counties in Wisconsin, you can get help at agencies that assist homeless people and/or people in poverty. Lakeshore CAP, covering 4 counties, is among those agencies displaying the “No Wrong Door” welcome poster.

Donate Locally to Help the Homeless!

Lakeshore CAP’s Supportive Housing Program in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Door & Kewaunee Counties has case managers who assist eligible homeless individuals and households — or those at risk of becoming homeless — maintain housing and work towards self-sufficiency. While we receive HUD grant monies, we also rely on private and fund-raiser donations to further our goals in the communities we serve. Please DONATE on this site to help Lakeshore CAP combat homelessness and give our fellow citizens a hand up. Thank you!

Rental Funds from CARES Act

LAKESHORE CAP WRAP —WISCONSIN RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Lakeshore CAP recently learned we will be receiving WI Rental Assistance Program (WRAP) funds, resulting from the CARES Act. The purpose of these funds is to help those who were negatively impacted by COVID-19 and are struggling to pay rent or security deposit. The Lakeshore CAP program will provide funding to eligible individuals residing in the Wisconsin counties of Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc and Sheboygan. We are excited and relieved to have these funds available to eligible residents within our service area.

In general, an applicant must be an adult resident of Wisconsin, with a household income at or below 80% of the county median income in the month of the application or the prior month. For those eligible, the program may provide direct financial assistance for rent owed and/or security deposits.

—-> PLEASE NOTE: Lakeshore CAP is now taking applications for WRAP.  Find guidelines and the pre-screen application in yellow banner at:

If you are seeking other forms of rental assistance due to inability to pay as a result of COVID-19 or if you simply are unable to pay your rent and are facing eviction, Lakeshore CAP has a limited amount of assistance available.
